About Dave Nelsen:

Dave Nelsen is President of Dialog Consulting Group, a boutique consulting firm that specializes in helping business executives develop strategies to enhance the conversations with their most important internal and external customers using proven social networking, social media, and internet communication tools.

Dave is a professional speaker who has appeared at almost one thousand corporate and industry association events. He writes a monthly column for TEQ Magazine and for almost a decade joined host Ron Morris in a 2-hour radio show on WMNY, 1360 AM in Pittsburgh, PA. 

After earning a Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering at University of Arizona in 1982 and Master’s degree in Operations Research at Stanford in 1983, Dave spent more than a decade at Bell Laboratories and AT&T where he led marketing and product management for the InterSpan® Data Services product line. In 1994, Dave joined high-speed networking start-up FORE Systems and helped the company become a major player in Internet data transport (“FORE at the Core”).

In 1998, Dave co-founded and was CEO of CoManage Corp. until it was acquired seven years later by Syndesis. During this time, he was recognized as Entrepreneur of the Year (2000) by Ernst & Young and CEO of the Year (2004) by The Tech Council (the largest US technology trade association).

In 2005, Dave founded social media pioneer TalkShoe.com, introducing the world to live, interactive podcasting. During his 20 years in startups, he’s raised more than $70 million in Federal, angel, and venture capital financing.

In 2009, Dave embarked in a new direction as a professional speaker, educating business executives about social media applications in business. He was recognized by Vistage as Best New Speaker of the Year that year (2009), as Impact Speaker of the Year (2010 & 2012), Vistage Speaker of the Year (2012), and recently as TEC Canada Top Speaker(2018).

Dave has served on a variety of public and private boards including the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship and the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.

Dave is an Adventure Racer and triathlete. Recently, he’s fallen in love with the Seven app (high intensity interval training). In his spare time, he makes award-winning red wine.
